I read the linked article as a very positive statement, albeit with the caveat that modern sensibilities do not necessarily (and especially in the U.S.) appreciate the former Pope?s chosen approach. OK, Chesterfields are really traditional in style?and I like them, though that?s irrelevant?but ?inanimate object??
Maybe Monty Python would make that play on Pillar?but it?s weird and I don?t think it?s the irreverent bit that doesn?t fit. I think it?s the fact that Pillar doesn?t fit for someone who traveled the world constantly, and led much more by example than decree (the decrees, as the article’s author points out, have mostly been around for centuries).
