When do you ever hear of a newspaper apologizing to its readers for totally blowing it and missing a story that is right under their noses? The answer is, almost never, but today it happened with the Roanoke Daily Herald, who admitted they screwed up on the Randy Parton Theatre story:

To readers, we apologize for dropping the
ball. We will do our best to ensure it never happens again. We make
this mea culpa public because to do less would hold us to a lesser
standard than we hold others. Openness and candor must be at the
forefront of everything we do.
