To the explicit question about whether saving America is worth breaking the law, I would hope so. A strong case can be made that Abraham Lincoln did so, to our and the world’s benefit. The law is an instrument of the nation (of the people, not government) and not the other way around. So long as the lawbreaker thinks the punishment is worth it, breaking the law is an option.
