John–Yes, slavery was common place and accepted by the founders, so
why shouldn’t they have been for the draft. But my point was that the
principles that the country was founded upon, namely the three
interconnected natural rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of
happiness, are inconsistent with slavery (and the draft). The fact that
our government and the politicians that have populated it have strayed
from these principles from day one is undeniable.
