Well, I did RTWT, Joseph, and now I’m curious what the author was thinking. After all, the $1000 child tax credit is not only a benefit directly to parents, if your family’s large enough (three or more children)
you may be able to claim an additional child tax credit up to the amount of Social Security taxes you paid during the year, less any earned income credit you receive.
I know the author’s aware of this, since he references it in earlier columns. Is the present article concerned with the crushing weight of childrearing expenses on families with adjusted gross incomes exceeding $110,000? A lot of big families do quite well on a whole lot less.
A good thought but I think the President’s already addressed this.
