True, Andrew, Levi Strauss was a German, but he didn’t invent bluejeans until he had emigrated to California. A German who invented bluejeans after he moved to San Francisco hardly allows us to accurately say “the Germans” invented bluejeans.

I seriously doubt that if he had stayed in Bavaria that he would ever have gotten the idea to make pants out of denim for miners. In fact, having spent a lot of my early years in Germany as an Army brat and a serviceman, I can tell you that the absolute most-worthless bluejeans ever known to man were of the German-made variety back in the ’50s and the ’60s. I don’t think they’ve gotten any better.
