Both Memphis and Nashville are studying light-rail commuter systems, but the governor isn’t optimistic because of their complexity and cost.
“What makes rail work in some northeastern cities (is) everybody works downtown and lives in the suburbs,” [Bredeson] said. “In Nashville, they live in the suburbs and work in the suburbs, or live downtown and work in the country. It is all crossways.”
Huh? Sensible in the mountains, no sense in the city? Of course, he’s right about Nashville…
