I was one of those young guys (then). With all due respect to Peggy Noonan, who was in the White House, I do not see many of those young guys of the Reagan administration in the Bush administration. Perhaps my seat in an agency gives me a different perspective than Ms. Noonan.
In fact it was the wiz kids in the White House who stabbed my boss, Don Devine, in the back forcing him out after Reagan’s first term. It seems that if you tried your best to undermine and sabotage Reagan’s policies, such as the heads of the SBA and the Legal Services Corporation, you kept your job and if your tried your best to implement Reagan’s policies you were forced out. Too many officials in the White House read the Washington Post.
