Michael,

I always have a problem with complaints about the type of shopper a store attracts. I appreciate that different stores exist for different markets. When I was younger, I was glad to have Neiman Marcus. Now I’m glad to have Wal-Mart and Target. My organic-food-loving friends appreciate Whole Foods while I appreciate BJ’s.

What makes the Trader Joe’s noteworthy is not who shops there, but the fact that Caryites are excited to have it. When ALDI tried to open a store in Cary, there were numerous complaints about having too many grocery stores. So, let’s welcome Trader Joe’s and two-buck Chuck and hope that we can eventually get its cousin, ALDI.
