Indeed, Rick, it’s difficult to discern a strategy other than trying to be hailed as anti-speech heroes (which is apparently a formidable distinction of honor in Chapel Hill; just ask classroom bully Elyse Crystall).

I hope that the leadership at UNC-Chapel Hill can find some way to reconcile the university culture’s insular hatred of dissent from leftist groupthink with the university’s pride in its heritage in fighting off the Speaker Ban Law. It can be done, easily.1

1. Hint: support free speech and teach students ? the ones you perennially hail as the best and brightest North Carolina has ever produced ? to have the intellectual wherewithal to withstand speech with which they disagree as well as attack such speech with better ideas. It’s as simple as that.
