It’s amazing how insular presumptive cultural leaders can be that way, Troy. A couple of years ago I was the guest on a public radio program from Chapel Hill. While I was waiting in various places around the studio, I was treated to the sight of the mailroom guy coming by with a copy of Maureen Dowd’s book about the Bush family and the man at the reception desk clamoring “Oo! Oo! I want that!”; the control room crew sniffing about “Cheer’wine’! What is Cheer’wine’? Har! Har! Har!”; and my remark to the producer that I had driven from the other side of Durham that morning greeted with confusion and the question, “Where is Person County?”
So, a nice trip to Rockingham, I presume?
