I am not sure what these news outlets find so newsworthy about the Baldridge approach being used in Edgecombe County schools. The Iredell-Stateville Schools have been using it ever since Terry Holliday became their superintendent a few years ago. From what I can see, the only thing really objectionable about it is the cost of the materials and seminars related to it.

As for those poor 12 year old kids being taught to read, welcome to public education in North Carolina, kids. Enjoy the ride.
