And then there’s this arrogance from the same article:

Democrats said Republicans were lobbing
criticism without offering solutions. “They are not up to the job of
governing in a recession when decisions are hard and when things are
tough,” House Speaker Joe Hackney said.

Yeah, Joe, you’ve all done a sweet job of governing the last 20+ years. Just how is it that we’ve kept falling into the same repeated cycle of budget shortfalls by not socking away rainy day funds for the lean times that everyone knows inevitably come? All the while clowns like Randy Parton and teapot showcasers slurp from the government teat. Can’t possibly be the governing there, can it? By the way, let me add the corrupt, incarcerated governing, part of which you repeatedly voted in power yourself.

And then there’s this guy:

Some Democrats who come from hotly
contested districts had worried ahead of the vote about whether they
could support the budget. No Democrats voted against it Tuesday.

“It’s not going to haunt me,” said Sen. John Snow, a Murphy Democrat. “It made substantial cuts, but it kept teachers working.”

Time will tell, but he’s probably right, given North Carolina voting history and the mass influx of Northerners who ruined their former states so badly that they couldn’t stand to live there any more.

Update 11:28 a.m.: Just re-visited the Locker Room and my conscience made me realize I ought to disclose that, yes…I am one of those Northern transplants!! (via Los Angeles arriving NC in August ’95). That makes me doubly despicable: both a former New Englander and Californian.
