Paul, if I may, I think this is a case where a reflexive, leftist media bent actually harms the Democrats. The longer they fail to follow these leads, the more they allow the Bush campaign to use this news for an “October surprise”-type announcement. A responsible press would want to inform the public of these developments, but then again, doing so might lead to the public wanting to do more to fight the terrorists. Failure to follow these leads prevents lending credibility to a hated Republican president and doesn’t stoke “war fervor” among a populace who doesn’t understand the deeper wisdom of coddling.
