Oh… I’m chillin’ Jon. Don’t worry about that. I’m one of the most chillin’ dudes you’ll ever meet. But I’m also a big Neil Young fan – as are many millions of people in America today. He continues to put out great music and is still inspiring to countless musicians.
He’s also a great model of how one can live by their own path rather than what is fed to them by ‘the system’. I’ve modeled my own attitudes toward creative compromise – or lack thereof – to Neil Young. Perhaps that’s why I post with such firmness.
John – Young’s ‘unique’ voice is part of the charm of his art. If someone with average guitar skills and less than perfect vocals can have such a long and successful career and be such a groundbreaking inspiration in his medium, it gives the rest of us hope. He’s true to himself and is unfiltered in the emotions and passions of the stories he tells. That’s why people continue to love him.
