“Today’s the end of the line for Jim Black and his corruption.” Those were the first words of U.S. Attorney George Holding’s statement after this morning’s sentencing hearing.
Democratic political consultant Joe Sinsheimer played a key role in exposing Black’s corruption.
- The Carolina Journal Radio microphones caught Sinsheimer’s response to this question: “Do you feel vindicated?”
- One of Black’s main Republican antagonists in the General Assembly, John Rhodes, offered this response.
Black entered a so-called “Alford plea” (he doesn’t admit guilt, but he allows the court to proceed as if he’s guilty) in the $50,000 cash-for-vote scheme involving former Rep. Michael Decker’s party switch.
