Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Alvarez (R) was tossed from office with 88 percent of voters opting to recall him.
Couple things suggest themselves:
- Local government consolidation didn’t fix Miami — but if you do go that route, there needs to be a recall option within reach of voters to offset the increased power of the executive branch.
- Property tax hikes and double-digit unemployment are not popular — even if you claim they are for the children. Hint-hint.
- Maybe it was LeBron’s fault.
Kinda makes you wonder about the January unemployment numbers for Mecklenburg County, huh? Oops, that’s right. The state still has not released them.
