Jenna made a pitch yesterday to add Harry Potter to the canon. I agree. Book seven is loaded with allusions and symbolism, though still highly readable – unlike say Ulysses of which I can’t get through the first page, or anything by Thomas Pynchon.
I would also put Neil Gaiman’s American Gods on a list of great 21st literature.
