Well this is an interesting development out of Chapel Hill. The Daily Tar Heel reports that the Orange County Board of Elections has decided to count provisional ballots in the mayoral race between Mark Kleinschmidt and Matt Cjazkowski. Kleinschmidt won. According to the story, Kleinschmidt’s margin is razor thin — only 99 votes — so if Cjazkowski picks up enough provisionals and comes within 1 percent of the winner, he can call for a recount.

This race has been fascinating since Kleinschmidt is the liberal establishment candidate and Cjazkowski is considered pro-business and garnered the support of local business owners.
