Fellow Lockeans Mitch Kokai and Roy Cordato remind me to check back in on Mecklenburg’s ozone situation.
When we last checked in, we were just past the half-way point of the high ozone season with the score Green 623, Red 0. Despite a couple threatening moves in the past month, Red still is stuck going no where. Green, meanwhile, continues to pour it on and now is up 845 to nothing.
Red may yet get on the board, but it is unlikely. Labor Day used to mark the end of official ozone season. Unless a hot, dry Indian summer pops in to give Red a late boost, we may be looking at a complete season shut-out.
No wonder Red looks so angry.
