Captain’s Quarters describes Ted Kennedy’s performance yesterday at the Roberts hearings thusly:

Ted Kennedy had his head buried in his notes while sonorously reading
aloud, and simply moved on awkwardly to his next prepared question
regardless of whatever Roberts answered.

It struck me that this is an exact description of the way Tim
Russert, on “Meet the Press,” handles interviews. I’ve never understood
why he is considered a good interviewer. And don’t get me started on
the halting, bumbling approach of Charlie Rose.
