On WPTF’s North Carolina’s Morning News this morning, Rep. Hugh Holliman predicted that HB 2 — the statewide smoking ban in public and work places— will pass by a vote of about 70 to 50.

WPTF will post the interview later this morning. When that happens, I will link to it so you can hear for yourself that this very powerful legislator believes that you and I shouldn’t have the right to decide for ourselves whether or not we want to dine in a restaurant that allows smoking. And he doesn’t think a business owner has the right to decide the environment he/she will offer for customers either.

The nanny state is alive and well.

So what do North Carolinians think about Rep. Holliman’s proposed ban? They’re clearly opposed to it, as this Civitas poll illustrates.
