“What happened to the class of ’94?”  is an excellent article about Arizona Representative John Shadegg and his battle to carry the torch of the Class of 1994.

John is a good friend and one of the six  original co-conspirators who started the Goldwater Institute.  In fact, when most of us had given up on securing Goldwater’s name for the institute, John was willing to set up one more breakfast.  (We had tried to raise money for the Arizona Policy Institute without success and we believed Goldwater’s name on the institute would impress potential donors.) John arranged a meeting with a key legislator who we talked into writing a letter to Goldwater explaining that the institute would provide a vital service for conservative legislators. It worked and, as they say, the rest is history.
