I live in the 4th District and recently received an email from Representative David Price, telling me how he’s on record as telling the so-called Super Committee not to cut any government spending — which he terms as “investment” — on education and job creation. He informs his constituents that we “know” that such spending is beneficial.

Of course, this is just the standard political blather from a true believer in the mega-state. Too bad that Price doesn’t know that the only way we can make efficient use of resources, on education, job creation, or anything else, is through free market competition. Politicians almost always squander resources on education that leaves people with nothing more than a paper credential and job creation that creates a few jobs at high cost that only last as long as the government subsidies keep flowing.
