More bashing of former President George W. Bush is on the way, this time from North Carolina Republican Rep. Walter Jones of the 3rd district.

“I took a lot of heat down here,” Rep. Jones said, adding that people said he had betrayed then-President George W. Bush.

But according to the congressman, Mr. Bush, former Vice President Dick Cheney and others from that administration owe the American people an apology. “We were all raised to say, excuse me, I made a mistake,” he said. “But if you are a member of congress, probably the most crucial vote you will ever make is to commit our young men and women to war and possibly death.

“That’s what’s upset me about Bush and Cheney,” he said. “They never apologized for it. And they know all the facts, probably more than I know.”

What bothers me about Rep. Jones is that he seems to believe those who supported – and continue to support – the Iraq War are people who should be rebuked. As he himself said, “they know all the facts, probably more than I know.”
