After being in Greensboro again next year and in Washington, DC in 2016. As USA Today reports, the key issue at this point appears to be whatever deal the Atlantic Coast Conference cuts with the Atlantic 10 about hosting their conferences’ men’s basketball tournaments in Brooklyn. So it’s quite possible that the ACC tourney could be New York City half the time.

If that’s the case, a number of other sites could split sharing the ACC event when it’s not in the Big Apple. Charlotte and Greensboro become rather interchangeable when you’re dealing with a conference with 15 members spanning from Miami to Syracuse and also including Pittsburgh, Louisville (as of next year, replacing Maryland), and Notre Dame (except in football and hockey). And as Greensboro Coliseum seats more than Time Warner Cable Arena, the odds of the ACC tournament returning to Charlotte becomes low indeed.
