Over the last few months, I have pointed out that the NC Association of Educators (NCAE) have
had a massive drop in membership and money;
had internal disagreements about House Bill 2, despite their stated opposition to it;
had a unanimous staff vote of “no confidence” in Executive Director Rachelle Johnson;
sponsored unpopular “walk-in” events throughout the state;
advanced fanciful conspiracy theories about Republicans and their policy efforts; and
reportedly failed to raise staff salaries at all over the last eight years.
And, through it all, North Carolina’s mainstream media has been mostly silent on the above issues. Their reporting has been little more than transcriptions of NCAE talking points, and it is really starting to grind my gears.
