If you prefer to have other people read ordinances for you, you might be interested in a Steep Slopes Meeting September 23. D.J. Gerken from the Southern Environmental Law Center will explain the steep slopes ordinance the Buncombe County Commissioners will consider October 5. French Broad Riverkeeper Hartwell Carson will talk about regulating coal ash ponds. Lastly, “The Sierra Club will endorse candidates for the November election.” The meeting will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Asheville on Charlotte Street at 7:30pm.
I don’t expect I’ll be attending. I have been pulled over for driving 15 mph below the speed limit, for going too slow when I was driving 4 mph over the speed limit, for speeding when I was keeping up with traffic, and for speeding when I never got the car out of third gear. I don’t think the law would let me get away with attending a political meeting in a church.
