The latest research from the John Locke Foundation featured a report co-authored by Daren Bakst, Director of Legal and Regulatory Studies, that debunked a bogus study from an anti-nuclear power advocacy group. Bakst confirmed that nuclear power remains much less expensive than solar power. The Solar Power Videos website featured a video clip of Bakst discussing his report. The Heritage Foundation’s most recent Insider report highlighted two other JLF Spotlights: Terry Stoops’ work on “disruption innovation” in rural North Carolina school districts, and Joseph Coletti’s research into state-level health care deregulation. The EducationNews.org website promoted a recent Carolina Journal Online interview with Stoops about his analysis of North Carolina’s public school standardized test questions. The Red Springs Citizen published Coletti’s recent column about North Carolina state government’s $3 billion budget hole. In other news, The Moral Liberal blog picked up a recent Freeman article from Roy Cordato, Vice President for Research and Resident Scholar, explaining the problems associated with the value-added tax. The lobbyist who represents the N.C. Child Care Coalition is drawing attention to the John Locke Foundation’s Agenda 2010 report. She sent an e-mail (PDF link) to coalition supporters this week highlighting Agenda items that deal with child care issues.
