When government policy dictates bailouts for people who fail to make their mortgage payments, the government sets the stage for the “moral hazard” of people using less caution in taking out mortgages. John Locke Foundation Vice President for Research and Resident Scholar Roy Cordato discussed the moral hazard issue with UNC TV for a soon-to-be aired report. The public television station also interviewed Cordato about fundamental elements of tax reform for an online video report. The Associated Press called on Daren Bakst, Director of Legal and Regulatory Studies, for comment on Gov. Beverly Perdue’s plan to cut the state’s regulatory burden. Bakst also co-authored an entry at MasterResource.org about the relative costs of nuclear and solar power. N.C. Lawyers Weekly interviewed Bakst about proposals to change North Carolina’s judicial election process. Michael Sanera continued his work with Wake County’s Sustainability Task Force, participating in both subcommittee and full committee meetings this week. Sanera will deliver remarks at Tea Party events Saturday in Monroe and Wingate. Joseph Coletti and Vice President for Outreach Becki Gray continued their Carolina Freedom Club tour this week with stops in Wilmington and Raleigh. Meanwhile, an Oklahoma school choice blog cited Terry Stoops’ concerns about bureaucrats who want to limit options for parents of children with special needs. The Reason Foundation’s “Out of Control Policy” blog also cited John Locke Foundation research into Charlotte’s light-rail line.
