As state lawmakers continue to debate a measure to lift North Carolina’s charter school cap, John Locke Foundation Director of Education Studies Terry Stoops joined Chad Adams this week on the WLTT Radio morning show to discuss the issue. Roy Cordato, Vice President for Research, discussed with Adams a legislative effort to repeal state renewable energy mandates. Cordato also critiqued Republican legislators’ environmental priorities. The Kernersville News published Cordato’s column calling for the abolition of North Carolina’s corporate income tax. Joseph Coletti, Director of Health and Fiscal Policy Studies, discussed budget issues during a presentation to the Western Wake Republican Club, as promoted by the Cary News. N.C. Senate Republicans highlighted Coletti’s recent column on problems associated with the estate tax. The Heritage Foundation’s “Insider Online” promoted Coletti’s latest report on Medicaid reform, along with Policy Analyst Michael Lowrey‘s most recent By The Numbers report on North Carolina city and county tax and fee burdens. The Mooresville Tribune and Richmond County Daily Journal published Lowrey’s column based on his BTN research. The N.C. Family Policy Council interviewed Jon Sanders, Associate Director of Research, for a radio program focusing on his recent report on the state lottery. The News & Observer printed a letter from Daren Bakst, Director of Legal and Regulatory Studies, discussing the value of partisan labels for judicial elections. North Carolina Lawyers Weekly interviewed Bakst for an article about legislation targeting the judicial selection process. The Lincoln Tribune published Bakst’s column on ballot-access restrictions. The N.C. Property Rights Coalition promoted Bakst’s Shaftesbury Society speech this week on eminent domain abuse. Meanwhile, the John Locke Foundation continues to attract attention for its research staff’s opposition to state renewable energy mandates. The Asheville Citizen-Times, Winston-Salem Journal, and RenewableEnergyWorld.com all noted JLF opposition to the 2007 mandates.
