North Carolina’s government funded Research Triangle Institute has joined in what JunkScience.com has referred to as a “green ecoimperialist legacy of death” by advising the government of Rwanda not to use DDT to kill malaria-causing mosquitoes. DDT has been recommended by the World
Health Organization and is the single most effective means of killing
the deadly bugs. According to an article in the New York Times:
“The controversial Dichloro Diphenyl Trichloroethane (DDT) will not be
used to control malaria in Rwanda, it has emerged. The chemical was
recommended last year by the World Health Organization (WHO), as a tool to control the disease in the developing countries.
The resolution of not applying DDT in Rwanda is a result of various
national consultative meetings on DDT use for malaria control held late
last year between officials from Rwanda Environmental Management
Authority (REMA), several government parastatals, and the US-based Research Triangle Institute (RTI).”
Malaria is killing millions of people throughout the third world,
especially Africa, primarily due to the banning of the use of DDT
pushed by radical environmental groups. DDT is not harmful to humans and most of the environmental problems alleged to be caused by the chemical are unfounded.
