On August 27, 2021, Jon Sanders submitted public comments to the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) regarding the BOEM's Notice of Intent to Prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the proposed Kitty Hawk Offshore Wind Project offshore North Carolina.
The John Locke Foundation has a long-standing interest in the Map Act, which we have criticized for being “inefficient, unfair, and unnecessary.” We have repeatedly urged the General Assembly to repeal or reform it. State leaders should cut through the noise of tailored industry reports and seek a thorough, comprehensive study of North Carolina energy policy, bearing in mind that ratepayers' chief interest is least-cost, reliable power at the flip of the switch.
