This weekend the WSJ did a feature article on George Mason University professor and my long time friend and fellow grad student—way back when—Professor Pete Boettke. Pete has been doing doing great work for a couple decades now inspiring and churning out grad students and Ph.D. economists who are adherents of the Austrian school of economics. This is the school associated with Ludwig von Mises and Nobel Laureate F.A. Hayek. It is also the school that lead the intellectual battle against both Keynesian and socialist economics in the 1920s, 30s, and 40s. It should be noted that one of Professor Boettke’s star students, Ed Stringham, has just recently taken a position at Fayetteville State University as the Hackley Endowed Professor of Capitalism and Private Enterprise Studies. Stringham also recently gave a talk to the John Locke Foundation commemorating the the birthday of Milton Friedman.
