Finally, some signs that someone in local government has actually thought about Mecklenburg County spending $80 million on a blackhole of a cable TV franchise.
Maybe condemning 16,000 county residences to substandard cable service a few weeks before they go to the polls to vote for county commissioners struck someone as a bad idea. Maybe the reality of explaining to taxpayers in a couple years that, well, you see, we had to raise your property taxes because we bought this clunker of a cable system, and, well, turns out it needs millions of dollars in upgrades, and, well, you see…..
Whatever. To paraphrase county commissioner Jim Puckett, this thing needs to get killed dead. Now.
