There is concern that a proposal for a second homeless shelter on Hendersonville’s 7th Avenue could be not only redundant, but not necessary. I disagree. Once the city collects enough taxes to turn the street into a grand tourist destination, lots of shop owners could wind up like the little guy in the street in this Mountain Xpress cartoon. You know how it goes. Government subsidizes your competition, rezones you so you can’t keep up with technology and expand, then presto changeo!
