Hmmm, was expecting a little more flesh on the announcement that Observer publisher Peter Ridder is canceling his planned Jan. 1 retirement to help KR ride out its ongoing management/ownership questions. There could still be lots of back-and-forth on that issue involving boardroom politics where CEO Tony Ridder might need back up from another of the Ridder clan. But when all is said and done three distinctly different possibilities are out there.
One, nothing happens.
Two, KR keeps the nice little package of Charlotte-Columbia-Myrtle Beach but sells off other less attractive parts of the company.
Three, KR can’t find buyers for anything but the nice bits like the Charlotte-Columbia-Myrtle Beach triangle, which gets moved to new owners.
Stay tuned.
