It’s not just us. … Imagine the number of agencies involved in this Durham investigation:
Sheriff’s office informants purchased cocaine and were offered the services of a prostitute at a club owned by a sheriff’s deputy, according to an affidavit.
Deputy Michael P. Owens also allegedly drove to Atlanta to buy $40,000 in counterfeit bills for $10,000.
Owens was fired Monday after being arrested Friday in a raid of his club, La Zona Sports Bar and Billiards on Roxboro Road.
Some of the drug exchanges occurred near the front door of La Zona where off-duty deputies worked security, according to the affidavit, written by sheriff’s detective C.W. Clark Jr. Other sales took place in the club’s bathroom.
….The Secret Service has been called in to investigate counterfeiting charges, and officials are trying to find out if women were brought in from other countries to serve as prostitutes in violation of human trafficking laws.
