The N&R follows up on blogosphere chat that former Guilford County Manager Roger Cotten will come on as interim Greensboro city manager. I can’t imagine that Cotten would give up his phat job with D.H. Griffin to serve on an interim basis if he didn’t believe he would be a permanent replacement for the ousted Mitchell Johnson.

Should Cotten come on as city manager, his job would put him in close contact with his good buddy, Rhino editor John Hammer. Remember several years ago Hammer published a story —never substantiated —- alleging that Cotten had an “inappropriate personal relationship” with a female subordinate while serving as county manager.

Interesting situation should Cotten take over permanently, but I don’t see it. Maybe I’ll be proven wrong.
