Round 1 of North Carolina’s fight to see who is in control of K-12 education went to Gov. Beverly Perdue. In January she pushed aside State Superintendent of Public Instruction June Atkinson — an elected official — and installed Bill Harrison as K-12 CEO.

Round 2 begins today in Wake County Superior Court as Atkinson and attorney Bob Orr ask a judge to decide.

In April, Orr and Atkinson explained the lawsuit in this news conference.
