Always loved his acting and of course the turn in Jaws. But my absolute favorite Scheider film was also one of weird, huge 1970s films that you cannot believe someone actually made. Sorcerer is a sprawling, bizarre near-classic — think The Treasure of the Sierra Madre meets Deliverance in a South American hellhole. Then throw some loopy, creepy Tangerine Dream music on top.
