Nature abhors a vacuum, so into the void surrounding the departure of Ed Tapscott as Bobcat CEO something is filling in the empty space. So, what would make the Bob Johnsons suddenly kick Tapscott to the curb? Who would replace him that could really be an improvement? Who could really jazz up fan interest and create excitement until the Bobcats can field a winning team? How about the greatest player ever?

Michael Jordan.

Recall that Jordan almost came to Charlotte to run George Shinn’s Hornets, but Shinn fumbled that opportunity by telegraphing that Jordan would not be in complete control. That pretty much sealed the Hornets fate in Charlotte. And there is no doubt that Jordan still burns about how he left the NBA — punted from the front-office of the Washington Wizards without warning, after Jordan had secured the franchise’s future by coming out of retirement to play for the team.

Johnson watched all that go down in DC and has to know, if he is any kind of businessman at all, that the Bobcats need some sort of jump start in Charlotte. Jordan in the front-office could do that.

Again, this is just a rumor flying around, but one to very many seasoned ears makes a great deal of sense.
