N&R readers are giving N.C. A&T professor M. Reza Salami an earful. After being detained by a Guilford County sheriff’s deputy for driving with a open container, Salami later complained about the deputy having a “Jesus is your savior” sign in the back of his patrol car.

Delores Tucker of Stokesdale writes:

M. Reza Salami was offended by a Jesus sign. Big deal.

I’m more than offended and appalled that someone with such a title of prestige would be driving with an open can of alcohol. I would suggest to Salami to evaluate the reasons he was placed in a patrol car.

It seems as though Prof. Salami is practicing displaced anger in order to avoid dealing with his own embarrassment and wrongdoing, an immature habit I gave up a few years ago.

Update: Fair enough, the details of Salami’s offense are lacking. That was mysterious to me, because how did Salami get charged with an open container, yet not with DWI. I thought the driver was allowed no alcohol in his blood if caught with an open container. Is that wrong?
