Today’s Wall Street Journal contains one of the most breezily idiotic pieces ever, this piece by Democratic Representative Rahm Emanuel. He contends that Wal-Mart (meaning the economy in general) thrives when “Democrats are in charge.”

His evidence is that economic times were rather good during the Clinton administration, but during most of it, Congress was in Republican hands.

Has he ever heard of the stratospheric Misery Index the country suffered during the Carter years, when the Democrats really were “in charge”?

Both the Republicans and Democrats love to play the silly game of taking credit for anything good and pinning the blame elsewhere for anything bad.
