Another scandal involving an imprisoned former Buncombe County sheriff generated a recent story in the Asheville Citizen-Times about the sheriff’s ability to continue drawing his pension after a conviction on federal corruption charges. The newspaper turned to John Hood for reaction. (“This case illustrates why the law needed to be changed,” said John Hood, president of the John Locke Foundation, a government watchdog group.)
