Forsyth County Sheriff Bill Schatzman says he will apply for the federal program to handle illegal immigrants after county commissioners agreed —- in principle —– to fund extra staff at the jail:
“We are just reinstating to the sheriff that we want to partner with him and we want to find how much funding it will take,” said Commissioner Gloria Whisenhunt, the board’s chairwoman.
“We are willing to put up some money, but we are not willing to say how much until the study is completed,” she said.
