The John Locke Foundation will sponsor a roundtable breakfast discussion Jan. 28 in conjunction with National School Choice Week. Television stations WRAL, WECT, WSFX, and WNCT are among the media outlets that picked up a news release promoting the event, along with the Raleigh News & Observer and Fayetteville Observer. Director of Education Outreach Lindalyn Kakadelis previewed the event during an appearance on Time Warner Cable News’ “In Depth” segment, and she also mentioned the breakfast during a recent chat about proposed virtual charter schools with Bill LuMaye on WPTF Radio. Kakadelis discussed Judge Howard Manning’s most recent education hearing, along with the upcoming release of school grades, during an appearance with Lockwood Phillips on WTKF’s “Viewpoints Radio.”

Speaking of events, the return of the General Assembly for its 2015 long session prompted JLF to offer briefings for Americans For Prosperity field staff and for legislative assistants. Vice President for Outreach Becki Gray oversaw both sets of presentations. Gray discussed major issues in front of the General Assembly during an appearance with Henry Hinton on WTIB Radio, and she continues twice-weekly politics and public policy updates for WTSB Radio listeners. Gray covers a range of state government topics this weekend in a conversation with Don Curtis for Curtis Media Group’s “Carolina Newsmakers” radio program. Gray previewed the new state legislative session during a speech to the Moore County TEA Citizens group.

Henderson and Director of Outreach Donna Martinez discuss the week’s major political developments during this weekend’s edition of Curtis Media Group’s syndicated “People In Politics” program. Stoops discussed Common Core public school standards during a presentation for a group at the Carolina Meadows retirement community in Chapel Hill.
