The genius of the Wake County Schools media machine is evident in this story about the school system’s poor budgeting.

The story points out that WCPSS transportation folk underestimated (?) the rising cost of diesel prices. But school officials also said the school system had to spend more money on fuel because they “added routes for students who chose to attend traditional-calendar schools.”

Of course, they did not specify how much of the $2.2 million shortfall is attributable to traditional-calendar school routes. Surely, it is much less than the cost to bus students to achieve socioeconomic “balance” or whatever they call it these days. (…and don’t call me Shirley.)
