Speaking of Republican gubernatorial candidates, Bob Orr and Pat McCrory say the state’s superintendent of public instruction should be appointed rather than elected.

An interesting question as the Guilford County Board of Education ponders which educrat it will hire to replace outgoing Superintendent Terry Grier. I’ve long said superintendent of schools should be an elected position, even at the local level.
