Former Greensboro Police detective Scott “Scooter” Sanders will return to work as a patrol officer after being cleared of all allegations related to the controversy surrounding former chief David Wray.
The N&R reports that Sanders “was flanked by several, other white police officers who had been implicated in the probe.” Attorney Seth Cohen says it’s “about time they got a ‘Thank you, we’re sorry.’”
Not sure if I’d hold my breath. Still, take this bit of closure and think about the new council, new mayor, new city manager and — within the year —- new police chief. Dare we believe it’s morning in Greensboro again?
Bonus thought: Not so fast on the closure —- Sanders was a detective after all, so he’s being demoted, for what?
